BRIEFLY PILOT AT WHITEMAN INJURED ON RUNWAY.


PACOIMA - A 68-year-old pilot was injured Friday when his propeller plane bumped into an aircraft parked on the runway at Whiteman Airport Whiteman Airport (IATA: WHP, ICAO: KWHP) is located in Pacoima, California in the San Fernando Valley.

No commercial airlines fly into this airport and it used exclusively for general aviation.

A California Highway Patrol officer arrested Esquivel after he was involved in a single-vehicle traffic incident in Los Angeles.

Esquivel is being held at Los Angeles County Jail with a $400,000 bail.

Injured child still in guarded condition

WOODLAND HILLS - A 4-year-old boy remained in guarded condition Friday after the boy's 35-year-old mother, who is being investigated for possibly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, crashed her car head-on into another vehicle, injuring seven people, authorities said.

The woman was driving her Acura Integra south on Topanga Canyon Boulevard near Mulholland Drive about 8 p.m. Thursday when she crossed a double yellow line and crashed head-on with a Lincoln Town Car The Lincoln Town Car is a rear wheel drive full-size luxury sedan and serves as the flagship of Ford's Lincoln luxury car division. Her 4-year-old son and 7-year-old son were airlifted to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. The woman and her 5-year-old son, along with an adult male, were treated and released for injuries. Two adult males in the Lincoln were also treated and later released from hospitals, LaForce said.

High-speed chase ends with 3 dead

Three people, including a pregnant woman, were killed Friday when the high-speed pursuit of a stolen sport utility vehicle ended in a collision that sparked a fire at a gas station, authorities said.

The chase began in an industrial area southeast of downtown shortly after midnight when officers saw the stolen Chevy Tahoe traveling erratically, California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Delgadillo said.

The SUV went several blocks at about 60 mph before running a red light and crashing into a United Parcel Service United Parcel Service, Inc. Event promoter faces new charge

A man who landed celebrity guests for charity events - but is accused of defrauding underwriters and donors - faced an additional federal charge Friday.

Aaron Tonken, 37, is now charged with wire fraud in addition to a mail fraud count. If convicted, the former event promoter could face up to 10 years in prison.

The criminal information claims that from about 1999 to 2002 Tonken and others lined their pockets with substantial portions of money that donors intended for star-studded charity events.

VAN NUYS - A Domino's Pizza deliveryman was killed Friday when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross a street.

The 60-year-old deliveryman was carrying a pizza and walking outside a crosswalk in the 7000 block of Woodley Avenue about 8 p.m. when he was hit, said LAPD Officer Nels Jensen.

Rescue workers pronounced him dead at the scene. The 20-year-old male driver of the vehicle was also hospitalized with cuts to the face after the impact forced the delivery man's head through the windshield, Jensen said.

Initial indications were that the incident appears to be pedestrian error, he said.
