BRIEFLY PACOIMA MAN, 79, REPORTED MISSING.


PACOIMA - Police were looking Saturday for a 79-year-old Pacoima man whose family reported him missing after he failed to return from a pharmacy where he drove to pick up a prescription Friday afternoon.

Ernest Sherman, whose family said suffers from memory loss, was last seen at the store in the 13000 block of Foothill Boulevard The following streets are named Foothill Boulevard:
  • Foothill Boulevard (Southern California)
  • Foothill Boulevard (East Bay, California)
 in Sylmar, police said. He is African-American, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 156 pounds, with short gray-and-black hair. He was driving a red, four-door Mercury Topaz-GS.

Man fatally shot; gang link probed

VAN NUYS - A Panorama City man was killed early Saturday in a suspected gang shooting, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police reported.

Eric Delgado, 18, was shot in the chest in the 7900 block of Willis Avenue and died later at an unidentified hospital, police said.

The killing is believed to be gang-related although the motive is unknown, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Van Nuys Homicide Unit at (818) 756-8377 or (818) 756-8346 after hours Adv. 1. after hours - not during regular hours; "he often worked after hours" .

Teen's condition is called critical

RESEDA - A 17-year-old boy was in gravely critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head at an undisclosed hospital Saturday after shots were fired at the car he was in on the 6600 block of Darby Avenue in an apparent gang-related incident, authorities said.

GRANADA HILLS - Los Angles city and county firefighters took about an hour Saturday afternoon to knock down a 5-acre brush fire near San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  and Balboa Boulevard, fire officials said.
