BRIEFLY OXNARD WOMAN HIT ON FREEWAY, DIES.


VENTURA - A 21-year-old Oxnard woman was hit and killed Thursday night as she was exchanging information with the occupant of another car in the center median of the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. It is the principal east-west route through Ventura County and in the southern San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.  after they both had been struck in a hit-and-run collision, officials said.

Jury convicts man for Valley murder

VAN NUYS - A man was found guilty Thursday of killing a Sherman Oaks woman and then fleeing across the Mexican border, authorities said.

A Van Nuys Superior Court jury found Luis Phillip Ponce, 26, guilty of first-degree murder in the December 1998 slaying of 34-year-old Eva Maria Tranchsel-Gooch. Jurors deadlocked on a burglary charge.

SuperLotto ticket wins in Northridge

NORTHRIDGE - One ticket bought in Northridge and another in Northern California Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California.  driver guilty of sexual assault

POMONA - A Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus driver was convicted Thursday by a Pomona Superior Court jury of sexually assaulting a female passenger last summer.

Leonard Henry Howell Henry Evans Howell, Jr. (September 5, 1920 - July 7, 1997), nicknamed "Howlin'" Henry Howell, was an American politician from the U.S. state of Virginia. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in both houses of the state legislature, was elected Lieutenant Governor of , 56, had been suspended from his job without pay pending the outcome of the case, an MTA representative said.

Suspect in rape seized in hospital
