BRIEFLY OXNARD MAN, 25, KILLED IN CAR CRASH.


OXNARD - A 25-year-old Oxnard motorist was killed early Friday when his eastbound car veered into oncoming traffic on Fifth Street and was hit broadside by a van, officials said.

Joe Edward Padilla was taken to St. John's Medical Center after the 8:10 a.m. crash and was pronounced dead. He had not been wearing a seat belt, officials said.

The driver of the van, Nancy G. Nhuyen, 40, was treated for minor injuries and released.

Witnesses told authorities that a silver or gray four-door sedan may have been involved in the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call California Highway Patrol highway patrol

Woman attacked by robber in home

The woman stayed in the bedroom more than an hour after she heard him leave at 2:30 a.m., authorities said. The suspect was described as white or Latino, 23 to 25, about 5 feet 6 inches and 145 pounds.

Authorities said the attack does not seem to be related to other rapes in Simi Valley since 1996.
