BRIEFLY ORGANIST'S RECITAL TO HELP RAISE FUNDS.


GLENDALE - Celebrated organist Berj Zamkochian will give a recital at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Alex Theatre The Alex Theatre is a historic landmark located at 216 North Brand Boulevard in Glendale, California of the United States of America. It is currently owned by the City of Glendale and operated by the Alex Regional Theatre Board.  to raise money for a project to document Armenian architectural heritage.

Zamkochian, who has performed for U.S. presidents and international royal families, will play works by Bach and other classical musicians, as well as a selection of Armenian religious works.

Proceeds will benefit Research on Armenian Architecture Research on Armenian Architecture, sometimes abbreviated to RAA, is an international non-governmental organization that monitors and studies Armenian monuments located outside the borders of the present-day Republic of Armenia, such as in Karabakh, Georgia, Turkey and elsewhere. , which has been surveying and documenting historical Armenian buildings outside present-day Armenia for more than 30 years.

 plans to eventually preserve its archives in multimedia format and make it available on CD-ROMs and the Internet.

Tickets range from $10 to $50 and can be reserved by calling the Alex Theatre at (818) 243-2539 or Abril Bookstore at (818) 243-4112.

Lockyer honored for Armenian work

GLENDALE - Attorney General Bill Lockyer William Westwood "Bill" Lockyer (born May 8, 1941) is the current State Treasurer of California. Prior to this, he served as California's Attorney General and head of the Department of Justice for the U.S. state of California.  was honored Friday by the western regional branch of the Armenian National Committee of America The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is an Armenian-American grassroots organization that actively advances the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of issues.  for his support of Armenian causes.

During a banquet at the Hilton Glendale, the group honored three leaders of the Armenian Genocide Project for educating the public about the 1915 atrocities through photo exhibits. The honorees are Ara Ashagan, Levon Parian and Garen Yeghparian, who plan to eventually publish their work in a book.

Santa will trade sleigh sleigh: see sled.  for Metrolink

Santa Claus will arrive in Burbank on Nov. 24 aboard a Metrolink train to kick off this year's Holiday Toy Express - a donation drive for disadvantaged children.

Residents are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to Burbank's Intermodal Transportation Center at 201 North Front St. The toys will be distributed by the Burbank Fire Department to local children.
