Oxnard man dead following crash

A 34-year-old man died Friday after he was thrown from his truck, which swerved off the Ojai Freeway, tumbled down a soft embankment and caught fire as it came to rest on its roof.

Good Samaritans help find suspect

VALLEY GLEN - Good Samaritans helped police track down and arrest a hit-and-run driver who ran a red light and crashed into a 65-year-old pedestrian in a crosswalk Friday morning, police said.

Brief chase ends in 3-vehicle crash

VAN NUYS - A man suspected of driving a stolen pickup truck was taken into custody Friday night after a brief chase ended in a collision with two other vehicles.

Police spotted the vehicle at about 8:15 p.m. in the area of Roscoe Boulevard and Willis Avenue and determined it was stolen. When police attempted to stop the truck for a traffic violation, the driver continued on.

About two minutes later, at Sherman Way and Tyrone Avenue, the pickup collided with two other vehicles, officials said.

Electrical blaze burns apartment

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - Five people were displaced from their apartment Friday night after a fire caused $45,000 in damages.
