County advised to settle lawsuits

In another case, the Claims Board recommended a $250,000 settlement for 23 foster children who were unlawfully kept in juvenile halls for days or weeks after judges ordered them released, or because social workers didn't pick the children up or had difficulty finding suitable homes for them.

The Board of Supervisors will decide Sept. 30 whether to approve the settlements.

Car runs off road, injuring four men

PACOIMA - A car ran off a freeway transition road near Pacoima on Monday, injuring four men in their 20s, two of them critically, a city fire official said.

The vehicle ran off the transition from the eastbound Ronald Reagan Freeway to the Golden State Freeway The Golden State Freeway is a north-south freeway running through Kern County and Los Angeles County, California. Originally built as U.S. Highway 99, it was re-signed as Interstate 5 in 1964.  about 3:30 p.m., authorities said.
