BRIEFLY MOTORCYCLIST DIES IN VALLEY COLLISION.SHERMAN OAKS - A man was killed early Thursday morning when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle in Sherman Oaks, police said. The motorcyclist, identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office as Michael Patrick Stanley, 37, of Sherman Oaks, was pronounced dead at the scene. - City News Service Woman, 43, dies in police custody VAN NUYS - A 43-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of possession of an illegal substance, died Thursday after being found unconscious in Van Nuys jail, a police officer said. The woman, whose name was not released, was found unconscious at 5:15 a.m. and taken to a hospital where she died, Los Angeles police Officer Eduardo Funes said. The woman was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday, Funes said. - City News Service Letter carriers will pick up food Los Angeles County's letter carriers will do the heavy lifting Saturday during the world's largest single food drive, picking up donations left next to mailboxes along their routes. Donated nonperishable and unopened food gathered through the 12th annual ``Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive'' will be distributed to local food banks.
