THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - More than 600 walkers are expected today for the 26th annual Conejo Community CROP Walk - a fund-raiser benefiting the hungry people in the world - at California Lutheran University Mission statement
The University's mission statement is as follows:

"California Lutheran University is a diverse, scholarly community dedicated to excellence in the liberal arts and professional studies.

Registration will begin at Nygreen Hall between noon and 12:45 p.m.

The 6.2-mile walk through Thousand Oaks is one of more than 2,000 CROP Walks held around the nation annually.

Job, career fair set for Saturday

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - The 18th annual Youth Employment Service Job and Career Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club in Simi Valley.

The event - designed for young adults ages 16 to 23 - is a free service meant to provide employers with an opportunity to meet and interview applicants for present and future job openings, as well as to educate young people about the responsibilities of work, employers' expectations and future career opportunities.

THOUSAND OAKS - Orientation for adults interested in becoming adoptive parents will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grant R. Brimhall Library The Grant R. Brimhall Library serves as the main Thousand Oaks Library building. It is controlled by the Thousand Oaks Library System, which also controls the Newbury Park Branch Library. The Grant R. Brimhall Building is located on Janss Rd. near State Route 23. .

The parent orientation is being organized by the Children's Bureau - which searches for adoptive parents in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Qualifying families receive training, certification, benefits and 24-hour support to aid in the care of their adoptive children.

The library is at 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
