BRIEFLY MAN SHOT, DIES OVER PARKING SPOT.


OXNARD - A man died after he was shot Saturday evening following an argument over a parking spot for an ice cream vendor, police said.

Jim Seitz, a major crimes supervisor for the Oxnard Police Department, said Miguel Solis of Oxnard, 37, drove to a lot off Richmond Avenue where his brother, an ice cream truck driver, was in a fight with another man over the parking reserved spot.

Man arrested for drugs DUI

NORTHRIDGE - A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics and evading police around 6:15 a.m. Sunday after his pickup truck hit a patrol car, officials said.

Police said Serge Petrovsky, 38, Simi Valley fled from officers for more than two minutes and crashed into the patrol car in an alley behind a fast-food restaurant near Tampa Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard.

Man jumps away as train hits car

VENTURA - A car driven by a man hunting for scrap metal became scrap Sunday when it was struck by an Amtrak train, police said.

The 1986 Suzuki Samurai driven by Carl Blanda, 39, of Ventura was struck by the train at 8:50 a.m. when it stalled on the tracks 40 feet east of the Victoria Avenue Railroad Crossing, according to Ventura police Lt. Skip Young. Blanda, who leaped from his vehicle before it was hit, was cited for parking on or near the tracks.

2 motorists hurt, taken to hospital

PALMDALE - Two motorists suffered critical injuries Sunday during a collision between a motorcycle and a van, authorities said.

The vehicles crashed about 2:50 p.m. in the 5700 block of Elizabeth Lake Road, near Cherry Tree Lane, said California Highway Patrol Officer John Seumanutafa.
