Teen is arrested for fatal stabbing

NEWBURY PARK - An unidentified 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a Newbury Park man who interrupted a car burglary, officials announced Wednesday.

Big rig-car crash leaves one dead

A semitruck collided with a small vehicle at 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon east of Piru, killing at least one person.

Two people were trapped inside the car and a fire erupted, officials said. The second person was transported to a local hospital with substantial injuries, officials said.

Detectives seek owners of jewelry

Los Angeles police detectives said Tuesday they hope to locate the owner or owners of a necklace valued at $100,000 and a pendant appraised at $50,000.

Molina to serve as head of board

Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina on Tuesday was named chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors as part of the annual rotation of the position.

The supervisors voted unanimously to elect Supervisor Michael D.
