It was the second annual walk in Los Angeles, and it drew five times as many people as last year. ``We're hoping this event will grow with the years,'' Reeve said.

Shooter arrested after long siege

SUNLAND - A 42-year-old man was taken into custody after he allegedly fired shots from his trailer, forcing an evacuation of his neighborhood, police said Sunday.

Jack Cooks was taken into custody sometime between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Saturday night after he allegedly fired shots from his trailer in the 10000 block of Sherman Grove Avenue, said Lt. Nick MacArthur of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill station.

After police and SWAT officers arrived, the situation evolved into a lengthy standoff.

The confrontation began at about 5 p.m., said MacArthur.

Police ordered residents to move away from the area. No one was injured during the incident, which was under investigation Sunday.
