BRIEFLY MAN IN CUSTODY AFTER HOME SIEGE.


THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - A 32-year-old man, who sheriff's deputies said was armed and feared someone was trying to harm him, was taken into custody Sunday after an 11-hour siege at his home.

Authorities said they got a call about a domestic disturbance in the house on the 400 block of Larch larch, any tree of the genus Larix, conifers of the family Pinaceae (pine family), which are unusual in that they are not evergreen. The various species are widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere.  Crest Drive around 9 p.m. Saturday from a caller who left before deputies arrived.

Deputies said they evacuated homes around the man's house while negotiators spent hours trying to calm his fears that a prison gang and others wanted to harm him.

 with a rifle, and they took him into custody around 7:45 a.m. Sunday, deputies wrote in a report. Other guns were found in the garage.

 - A power outage Sunday in the Marina del Rey area affected some 3,700 customers, a Southern California Edison Southern California Edison (or SCE Corp), the largest subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), is the primary electricity supply company for much of Southern California. It provides 11 million people with electricity.  representative said.

The outage, which occurred at 12:18 p.m., involved the loss of a 16,000- volt circuit, said Tom Boyd, a spokesman for the power company.

The outage area was between Washington Boulevard on the north and Fiji Way on the South, and between Lincoln Boulevard on the east and Via Marina on the west, said Boyd.

Man shot in wrist while driving car

SYLMAR - A 36-year-old man was in stable condition after being shot while driving his car, authorities said Sunday.

The man was near San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  and Bledsoe Street about 11 p.m. Saturday night when someone in another vehicle pulled up beside him and fired several shots, said Lt. Kelly Muldorfer of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill station.

The man was struck in the wrist and drove himself to a nearby police station, she said.
