BRIEFLY MAN DIES IN CRASH OF PICKUP TRUCK.


LANCASTER - A Lancaster man died when his pickup truck ran off a two-lane rural road and overturned, sheriff's deputies said.

Roberto Lara, 40, was thrown out of his 1998 Toyota Tacoma The Toyota Tacoma is a compact pickup truck manufactured by the Toyota Motor Company since 1995. It is essentially the Toyota Hilux modified and rebadged for North America. The second-generation Tacoma was Motor Trend Magazine's Truck of the Year for 2005.  as it flipped at least twice about 12:40 a.m. Monday on 60th Street West south of Avenue G, deputies said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lara apparently had not been wearing a seat belt, deputies said. They said they didn't know if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

 Burger Kings, and Clear Channel KTPI-FM (103.1), hope to raise $20,000 to provide a Thanksgiving dinner The centerpiece of contemporary Thanksgiving in the United States is a large meal, starring a large roasted turkey. All of the dishes in the traditional American version of Thanksgiving Dinner are made from foods native to North America, according to tradition the Pilgrims received these  to people in need.

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, people can call (866) 790-1031 to make a pledge that will then be accepted at any of the six Antelope Valley Burger Kings.

The money raised will be used to supply 2,000 families with Thanksgiving Thanksgiving

annual U.S. holiday celebrating harvest and yearly blessings; originated with Pilgrims (1621). [Am. Culture: EB, IX: 922]
