LANCASTER - A Lancaster man escaped injury Tuesday morning after he lost control of his speeding rental van and flipped it on the southbound Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley. , California Highway Patrol officials said.

Samuel Augustine, 32, was driving south in excess of 90 miles per hour, using the center lane and shoulder to pass, when he lost control of his rented Mazda MPV north of Avenue K-8. The van overturned and came to rest on its roof, witnesses told officers.

Ceremony set for A.V. group

PALMDALE - The Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will install its 2000 officers at a dinner at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Palmdale Cultural Center, 704 E. Palmdale Blvd.

LANCASTER - The seventh annual Joint-Venture Job/Resource Fair will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Bookstore Quadrangle quadrangle

Jones Intercable to test signals

PALMDALE - In compliance with Federal Communications Commission Federal Communications Commission (FCC), independent executive agency of the U.S. government established in 1934 to regulate interstate and foreign communications in the public interest.  regulations, Jones Intercable technical crews has begun testing that will result in periodic interruptions on some channels.

The testing will be performed from 1 to 4 a.m. Monday through Thursday for two weeks on channels 5, 7, 13, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 57, company officials said.

``These tests are required for FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  Proof of Performance ratings that ensure Jones Intercable is delivering the best audio and video signals possible to our customers,'' said technical manager Hugh Regalado. ``We will be testing all signal bandwidths and that is why a variety of cable channels will be affected.''
