BRIEFLY LUAU CAR SHOW SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY AT THE DESERT INN.


LANCASTER - Classic cars and trucks, vintage motorbikes, Harleys and street rods will be coming to the Desert Inn Hotel on Sunday for the third annual Luau Car Show.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors will be able to ogle o·gle

 the automobiles in the hotel's parking lot. To enter a vehicle in the contest, there is a $10 fee that covers registration, Hawaiian buffet, dash plaques, prizes and entertainment.

Prizes will be given in categories ranging from Best Fixer-Upper to Best of Show and People's Choice. There will be music, dancing and raffle prize drawings every half hour.

GOP groups will celebrate President Bush's birthday

 Republican volunteer organizations will join in ``a celebration of unity and patriotism'' Sunday at 1:30 p.m. to honor President George W. Bush's 56th birthday.

The free event will include hot dogs, beverages, snow cones, a bounce tent, a live band, a disc jockey disc jockey (DJ)

The event's speaker will be Assemblyman Tony Strickland, chairman of the Republican Caucus. Honorary hosts will include U.S. Rep. Howard P. ``Buck'' McKeon, state Sen. W.J. ``Pete'' Knight and Assemblyman George Runner George C. Runner, Jr. (born March 25 1952 in Scotia, New York) is a Republican California State Senator, who represents the 17th Senate District, which includes portions of Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County and Ventura County. .

Hosting organizations include the 36th Assembly District Republican Central Committee, Palmdale Republican Women Federated Connected and treated as one. The event will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Henderson at 41130 Heights Drive, in the California Chateau neighborhood near Avenue N and 60th Street West.
