BRIEFLY LANCASTER MAN DIES IN SHOOTING.


LANCASTER - A 29-year-old Lancaster man was shot and killed early Saturday morning about 2:35 a.m. in the 45500 block of Corkwood corkwood: see bombax.  Avenue.

A neighbor called to report the shooting and when deputies arrived the shooter was gone, according to according to

The man was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Officials were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The identity of the man was not released pending notification of his relatives.

Detectives await coroner's report

LANCASTER - Homicide homicide (hŏm`əsīd), in law, the taking of human life. Homicides that are neither justifiable nor excusable are considered crimes. A criminal homicide committed with malice is known as murder, otherwise it is called manslaughter.  investigators are waiting on the coroner to determine the identity of a burned body found in an undeveloped area of Lancaster Friday afternoon.

Homicide investigators were sent to the scene but have not released any information on their findings.

Sheriff's officials did say that the body was badly burned making it nearly impossible to determine any identifying features without medical testing.

The coroner will perform an autopsy early next week in an effort to release some information, such as the gender, race and age, but say it may take several days to determine the identity of the remains, officials said.

Club to hold its meeting at hotel
