The Kings added former Boston and Detroit head coach Dave Lewis to their coaching staff Tuesday.

The 54-year-old Lewis has served as a head coach or assistant coach in the NHL NHL Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, see there  for the past two decades. He earlier played 15 seasons in the league, including three with the Kings from 1979-83, the latter two seasons in which he was the team's captain.

The Bruins ousted him as coach in June, after they finished 35-41-6.

Also, the Kings signed goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin and re-signed defenseman Richard Petiot to one-year contracts.

The 30-year-old Aubin, signed to a two-way deal worth $525,000, played in 20 games for Toronto last season, posting a 3-5-2 record and 3.34 goals-against average.

The Kings also promoted Jamie Kompon to assistant coach and director of amateur development.

FOOTBALL: His transfer to Granada Hills High ruled invalid Monday, quarterback Greg Jimenez returned to his former school, Chatsworth, and he's slated to play his first game in Week 3 after participating in the mandatory minimum of 10 practices.

Jimenez transferred during the summer, but the move was successfully challenged by Chatsworth.

Had Jimenez, who passed for more than 1,400 yards last season, not returned to Chatsworth, he would have been forced to sit out his senior year.

"I think the football team was shocked to see me back because it was an unexpected move when I left," he said. "The Granada Hills coaches said they will still support me, so there are no hard feelings."
