BRIEFLY JEWELRY LOSS SET AT NEARLY $200,000.


PALMDALE - Nearly $200,000 worth of Asian jewelry jewelry, personal adornments worn for ornament or utility, to show rank or wealth, or to follow superstitious custom or fashion.

Much of the jewelry was custom made for its owner, deputies said. It was locked in a safe, which was opened.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in trying to locate the items. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Detective Dan Gordon at the Palmdale sheriff's station at (661) 267-4300.

Volunteers search for missing teen

Brett Paul Gacho left home on Tuesday, his 16th birthday, and a pistol was later discovered missing from his home, deputies said. He had never run away before or been in trouble with the law, deputies said.

Sheriff's mounted posse members were searching Thursday afternoon in the desert around the boy's home near 35th Street East and Avenue K.
