Tommy Haas Thomas Mario Haas (born April 3, 1978) is a German tennis player. He is 6 ft 1+1⁄2 in (187 cm) tall and plays right-handed. He is currently ranked #10 in the world. He reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 in May 2002.  will miss the Australian Open next month after undergoing right shoulder surgery.

The German, a semifinalist at the Grand Slam event last January, had the operation last week after tearing a tendon in his right shoulder while training.

``The tendon was completely torn, but if everything goes great, maybe I'll be back by Indian Wells or Miami at the end of March,'' Haas told the German sports agency SID.

He will miss Germany's Davis Cup match against Argentina in February.

``I've played for months with pain in my shoulder and in my elbow - that got on my nerves,'' Haas said.
