It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. Also, the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Task Force will recognize local businesses that have such policies by providing a window decals stating, ``This Business Supports a Drug-Free Workplace.''

The kit provides businesses with a fact sheet on the impacts of drug and alcohol use on businesses, the need for drug-free workplace policies, the importance and legality of drug testing in the workplace and the components to include in a drug-free workplace policy.

Established in January 2000, the task force addresses the issues of drug, alcohol and tobacco use among youths. Composed of city staff members, parents, youths, educators, law enforcement, businesses and community-based organizations, the task force works Force Works was a short-lived Marvel Comics superhero team. ValCom to acquire Channel 8's assets

VALENCIA - ValCom, Inc. will acquire the assets of KO8MX (Channel 8) from Camino Real Communications. Channel 8 will become part of ValCom's Television Station Group, and will have a direct international link with the company's broadcast network in Southeast Asia Southeast Asia, region of Asia (1990 est. pop. 442,500,000), c.1,740,000 sq mi (4,506,600 sq km), bounded roughly by the Indian subcontinent on the west, China on the north, and the Pacific Ocean on the east. .

Local craftsman gets certification

VALENCIA - Mike Cosley of American Craftsman in Valencia recently completed the advanced education requirements needed to receive the restoration industry's foremost certification - Certified Restorer from the National Institute of Disaster Restoration.

The designation was awarded at the organization's recent convention in Palm Springs.

ASCR's Certified Restorer designation is the pre-eminent recognition offered to professional restorers. In order to achieve this credential, professionals must verify that they have been in the industry a minimum of three years, passed an ethics interview, attended 50 hours of class time, passed a closed-book exam with a grade of 80 percent or higher, attended trade seminar within the past year, and prepared a formal report on an approved topic.

They must also complete extensive educational requirements covering a broad range of expertise in fire, smoke, water and vandalism restoration.
