VAN NUYS - A judge Monday dismissed criminal charges against one of the men accused of being involved in last year's gunpoint abduction of two members of a Woodland Hills family.

Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Martin Herscovitz granted the defense's request to drop the case against Roberto Sandoval after a third jury deadlocked on five of the six charges against him, said Deputy District Attorney Maureen Green.

Another man, Clarence McGill, was acquitted earlier. A third man, Kaveh Kamyab, was convicted by a separate jury and is awaiting sentencing. A fourth man is awaiting trial.

The case stemmed from the April 17, 2003, kidnapping of Jean Antoun's then-41-year-old wife and 11-year-old daughter.
