Fernando Rivas, 40, was arrested on suspicion of felony sexual assault and remained jailed at Men's Central Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, said Sgt. Steve Carey of the Glendale Police Department.

Carey said he did not know what job Rivas held at the hospital.

The victim, 55, left his car and was standing on the highway when a motorist in another vehicle struck him and fled the scene, Gaines said.

It was the second time lanes were closed in the same area.

Fifteen-year-old found shot dead

LANCASTER - Sheriff's homicide detectives on Sunday were investigating the shooting death of a 15-year-old Lancaster girl in her home.

The girl, whose name was not immediately released, was found about 12:40 a.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound to the upper torso inside her home in the 1100 block of West Avenue H-14, Deputy Scott Butler said.

``The victim was discovered by her roommate inside the residence,'' Butler said.

Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot in the area, Butler said. No further information was immediately released by detectives.
