Winterfest to have a medieval theme

PALMDALE - Pinecrest School will hold its Winterfest celebration from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the school, 2320 E. Ave. R.

Donations wanted for Xmas baskets

ROSAMOND - The annual Rosamond Christmas Baskets for the Needy program is collecting food for needy residents.

The program is sponsored by the Rosamond American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  Post 490, Rosamond Moose Lodge 415 and their affiliated units, along with Boy Scout Troop 41, Girl Scout Troop 164, and Mid Valley 4H Club.

Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 8 at Albertson's supermarket, 2547 Rosamond Blvd. Any donation of nonperishable food items or toys will be accepted.

Monetary donations should be made out to Christmas Basket Fund and mailed to PO Box 814, Rosamond, CA 93560.

Last year the organizations gave away 96 baskets to the needy in Rosamond. For more information or to suggest a basket recipient, call (661) 256-2657.
