VAN NUYS - A man found shot to death in a homeless camp last month has been identified as Fiero Antonio Castello, the Coroner's Office announced Thursday.

The 46-year-old Mexico native was shot in the chest Nov. 26 beneath a freeway underpass near Haskell Avenue and the San Diego Freeway The San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405, and the part of Interstate 5 south of the El Toro Y[1]) is one of the principal north-south highways in Southern California, and the major beltway of I-5 running through Southern California. . The Coroner's Office declared the shooting a homicide.

Telemarket scam leads to 5 arrests

The assistant district attorney said Max Becker, 77, of Newbury Park and Anthony Durant, 41, have agreed to surrender - but Kirk Kuykendoll, 51, of Thousand Oaks, is considered a fugitive.

Joggers warned following attack

THOUSAND OAKS - Police warned walkers and joggers Thursday to be careful after a 30-year-old Thousand Oaks woman fought off an attack near Sunset Hills Road at Verano Drive.

The woman was walking in the area at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday when a man approaching from the opposite direction greeted her, then grabbed and pushed her off the sidewalk, police said.

The woman struggled with the attacker and screamed, causing the man to run south on Sunset Hills Road, a news release said.

The man was described 18-25 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 135 pounds. He wore a dark-colored, hooded sweat shirt and gray sweat pants, police said.

THOUSAND OAKS - A mechanic who appeared to be in his 40s was seriously injured Thursday when he was struck on the head by an engine he was trying to remove, said Ventura County Fire Capt. Richard Dyatt.

Firefighters responded to a construction site on the west end of Bridgegate Street, near Westlake Boulevard at 12:19 p.m. Thursday and found the victim unconscious. The man was taken by helicopter to Los Robles Robles is a common surname in the Spanish language meaning oaks, and may refer to:
  • Alfonso GarcĂ­a Robles (1911-1991), Mexican diplomat and politician
  • Aurora Robles (born 1980), Mexican fashion model
  • Charlie Robles (born 1943), Puerto Rican musician
 Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. No information was available about the man's condition at the hospital.
