Authorities work to identify skull

GRIMES CANYON - Using dental records and missing-persons reports, authorities were working Thursday to identify a human skull that was discovered in the bottom of a canyon north of the Grimes Canyon summit.

The skull was discovered at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department's Search and Rescue team as it looked for Megan Barroso, a 20-year-old Moorpark woman missing since July 5.

Senior Deputy Ed Tumbleson said the skull wasn't that of Barroso.
