Vector control increase sought

VENTURA - Ventura County property owners will be asked to approve an assessment increase for the county's vector control program, which faces a $155,000 budget shortfall this year.

Property owners will be asked in November to cast mail-in ballots on whether to increase the yearly assessment from $1.12 per parcel to $4, said Robert Gallagher, the county's director of environmental health.
