BRIEFLY GUNMEN AMBUSH FAST-FOOD WORKERS.


LANCASTER - Two masked gunmen ambushed and robbed the employees of Primo Burger as they closed up the fast-food restaurant late Sunday, officials said Monday.

The unidentified employees had just locked the door and were walking toward the parking lot when they were accosted ac·cost

 by the gunmen, officials said. One employee ran back into the restaurant and locked the door behind him, and the other was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash.

The robbers fled north in a red Geo compact.

The two robbers were described as African-American men, each about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. One was in his early 20s, the other about 19, officials said.

Invading gunman gets 23-year term

LANCASTER - A 19-year-old Fontana man was sentenced Monday to 23 years in prison for a home-invasion robbery in which the victim was accosted as she left her home in the 700 block of East Avenue J-4.

The sentence for Sonny Martin, convicted in May of robbery and burglary, includes 10 years for using a gun and another 10 years for committing the offense for the benefit of a gang, prosecutors said.

Auditions booked for singers 5 to 18

LANCASTER - Break-A-Leg Productions will hold auditions Saturday for singers 5 to 18 years old to perform in ``A Tribute to the Music of Broadway,'' to be staged Oct. 13 and 14 at the Palmdale Fall Festival.

Auditions will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 333 E. Ave. K. Performers should bring sheet music in the appropriate key, and an accompanist will be provided.
