Hill, 26, was scheduled to return home from Iraq later this month. He died on March 11 in Fallujah, Iraq, when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive.

``Maria and I are deeply saddened by the death of Christopher,'' the California governor said in a printed statement. ``He served his country with great honor, and he will be truly missed. Our prayers go out to Christopher's family and friends.''

Family members said he was a graduate of Moorpark High School Moorpark High School, located in Moorpark, California, is a public high school in the Moorpark Unified School District and currently has an enrollment of 2,478 students.[1] , where he was known for his 1996 Mustang.

L.A. group helps Iran quake victims

More buses added to LADOT LADOT Los Angeles Department of Transportation  routes

Two extra buses will be up and running and more service hours will go into effect Tuesday in Panorama City and Van Nuys.

The Los Angeles Department of Transportation extended what officials call DASH service hours to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday so that riders can visit restaurants, retail stores and other destinations on the route after work.

LADOT also added Sunday and holiday service to the DASH bus route, which will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on those days.

Threats to Kobe's accusers denied

Accountant jailed on beating charge

Gelson's workers reject contract

Gelson's Markets workers have rejected a proposed contract identical to the one that recently ended the lengthy supermarket labor dispute, the chain's parent company announced Monday.

Workers will remain on the job at Gelson's 18 supermarkets in Southern California, while representatives of the United Food and Commercial Workers The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is a labor union representing approximately 1.4 million workers in the United States and Canada in many industries, including agriculture, health care, meatpacking, poultry and food processing, manufacturing, textile and  and store management continue negotiations, according to Arden Group Inc., Gelson's parent company.

A call to a union representative was not immediately returned.

Blaze damages part of prop shop

SUN VALLEY - Fire burned a portion of a large movie prop shop in Sun Valley on Monday, officials said.

Firefighters were called to Premier Props at 11500 Sheldon St. at 6:04 p.m. on the report of heavy smoke showing at the location, said Bob Collis of the Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is the agency that provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of Los Angeles. .

It took firefighters 36 minutes to extinguish the blaze inside the single-story, 3,600-square-foot building, Collis said.

Sprinklers in the concrete building kept the fire contained to a section of the building, and the damage was mostly to the contents, he said.
