BRIEFLY GLENDALE POLICE PROBE SHOOTING.

GLENDALE - Police on Monday were investigating the shooting of a 19-year-old Glendale woman, who was being treated at an area hospital and is expected to survive.

Police responded to the 900 block of Graynold Avenue at about noon and found the woman with a gunshot wound to her upper torso, said Sgt. Tom Lorenz, a spokesman for the Glendale Police Department. Police interviewed an unidentified 18-year-old man who was either the victim's boyfriend or husband, and who cooperated with detectives.

``We do understand from preliminary investigations they were suffering some relationship problems,'' Lorenz said.

Snag in Chumash, Fess Parker deal

SANTA YNEZ - The 745-acre land purchase deal between ``Davy Crockett'' actor-turned-developer Fess Parker and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians has dropped out of escrow.

Tribal spokesman Frances Snyder said the land purchase was taken out of escrow about two weeks ago because the groups were still discussing various items related to the project. She wouldn't elaborate but noted it doesn't mean the deal is off the table.

The deal called for the Chumash to purchase and eventually annex the 745 acres from Parker for possible development as a resort, golf course and tribal housing.
