Car hits tax office, then pizza joint

Prop. K proposals being accepted

Officials announced Monday that they would begin accepting proposals to allocate up to $10 million for programs under Proposition K, the measure approved by Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  voters to provide funds for park and recreation improvements.

Applications will be available today from the Commission for Children, Youth and Their Families, working with other city agencies.

Applications can be obtained by calling the Proposition K hotline at (213) 978-1887 or (213) 485-8347. Requests for proposals must be returned to the city by Oct. 17.

Body washes up off Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA - The body of man who might have been slain was found at the water's edge on a beach in Santa Monica on Monday, officials said.

``There's evidence of trauma. Police are investigating it as a possible homicide,'' said county lifeguard Capt. David Story.

Helicopter pilot spots fire in time

PASADENA - A police helicopter pilot spotted a small brush fire Monday near a building used for Rose Bowl storage.
