BRIEFLY FOREST RAID NETS MARIJUANA PLANTS.


VENTURA - About 4,300 growing and harvested marijuana plants with a street value estimated to be $4 million to $5 million were removed from the Los Padres National Forest Los Padres National Forest is a forest located in southern and central California, which includes most of the mountainous land along the California coast from Ventura to Monterey, extending inland. New trial ordered in office slaying

VENTURA - An immigrant from the former Soviet Union has been ordered for a second time to stand trial in connection with a Camarillo workplace shooting.

Ventura County Superior Court Judge Allan Steele found Monday that there was enough evidence to have Mikhail Khaimchayev stand trial on murder charges in the January 1999 killing of Sheldon Snyder of Simi Valley.

Khaimchayev, 31, is accused of walking into Snyder's office at Postal Innovations Inc., shooting him nine times and firing a round into his own stomach. Snyder, 36, was co-owner of the computer software company.

Monday's preliminary hearing marked the second time Khaimchayev has been ordered to stand trial in the case. After his initial hearing, a judge found him unfit unfit

Woman bleeding, baby found dead

MOORPARK - Officers checking on the well-being of a Moorpark woman Tuesday morning arrived at her home and found her bleeding on the floor next to a deceased newborn.

Shed fire injures 3 in Simi Valley

SIMI VALLEY - Three people suffered minor injuries in a fire that destroyed a shed and slightly damaged a house on Yosemite Avenue, officials said Tuesday.

The three, including one policeman who kept the fire at bay until firefighters arrived, were treated at a local hospital and released, officials said.

The fire broke out at 1:09 p.m. Monday in a field and spread to the shed, officials said. Damage was estimated at $10,000 to the structures and $15,000 to their contents.
