 - Starting July July: see month.  1, the Fire Department will charge $90 an hour - $15 more than the current rate - for fire prevention and hazardous materials inspections.

City officials say the fee hike is needed to cover rising operations costs at the Fire Department. Since the city last adjusted the fee in 1997, salaries at the Fire Prevention Bureau and Environmental Management Center have gone up by about 20 percent.

Council increases rate on city water

GLENDALE - Water bills will be slightly higher for residents starting July 1 under a new rate structure adopted by the City Council late Tuesday Tuesday: see week. .

Residents will see an overall increase of 2.1 percent, or about 92 cents per month.

City officials adopted the fee hike, saying the current rate lags behind the cost of water operations.
