SHERMAN OAKS - A grass fire that broke out Saturday afternoon forced the closure of a transition road lane from the northbound San Diego Freeway The San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405, and the part of Interstate 5 south of the El Toro Y[1]) is one of the principal north-south highways in Southern California, and the major beltway of I-5 running through Southern California.  to the westbound Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. Firefighters took less than 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which was reported about 2:40 p.m.

Two questioned in man's stabbing

VAN NUYS - Two men were being questioned Saturday in connection with an early morning stabbing outside an apartment complex in the 14600 block of Saticoy Street, police said.

Museum facing possible closure

The nation's oldest memorial honoring victims of the Holocaust could shut down by the end of the year.

The museum was established in 1961 by Holocaust survivors as the Martyrs Memorial Museum.

The Museum of the Holocaust has been kept afloat by the Los Angeles Jewish Federation, which is facing its own financial problems as it begins an emergency $10 million fund-raising campaign to help Israel.

Saturday was Bernard Parks' last official day as chief of police of Los Angeles.

Parks announced his retirement after the Police Commission voted 4-1 last month not to extend the his term by another five years.

Deputy Chief Michael Bostic will continue serving as acting chief until Tuesday, when the commission is expected to name a temporary chief.

2 boys, father hurt in 3-car collision

THOUSAND OAKS - Two boys and their father were badly injured when three cars collided near The Oaks mall Saturday afternoon, police officials said.

John Houchins, 42, of Moorpark and his 12- and 14-year-old sons were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, said Senior Deputy Tim May of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department The Ventura County Sheriff's Department (VCSD) provides law enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, USA, as well as several cities within the county. The cities that VCSD serves are Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, and Thousand Oaks. .

The drivers of the other two cars were uninjured.
