BRIEFLY FIRE BREAKS OUT IN BURBANK HOME.


BURBANK - A fire broke out at a Burbank home Friday night, and one woman inside was escorted out, authorities said.

Burbank police Lt. Chris Welker said it was unclear if the woman had suffered injuries, but he said two people were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation Smoke Inhalation Definition

The fire broke out at about 8:20 p.m. at the home in the 1300 block of North Myers Street. Burbank and Glendale firefighters extinguished the fire by 9:15 p.m., authorities said.

The structure received extensive damage from the blaze, but no estimates on the amount of the loss were immediately available.

Neighboring homes were also damaged by heat from the fire, Welker said.

Police seek victim to aid prosecution

It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  earlier this week.

Sgt. Kirk Palmer said the police are unable to prosecute the suspect, who has been detained by police, without the victim coming forward.

The suspect, whose name is being withheld, approached the victim around 10 p.m. on Tuesday while she was walking down the sidewalk. Police said she fended him off by screaming for help.

A witness followed the suspect until police arrived at the scene.

Golfers are ready for charity event

GLENDALE - More than 100 golfers are expected to participate Monday in the 13th annual Orthopaedic Hospital Paul Runyan Memorial Golf Classic at Oakmont Country Club Oakmont Country Club is a prestigious "top five" country club and the "oldest top-ranked golf course in the U.S.".[1] It is located in the Pittsburgh suburbs of Plum and Oakmont, Pennsylvania, USA. .

The charity tournament has raised more than $500,000 to treat children with osteosarcoma osteosarcoma /os·teo·sar·co·ma/ (os?te-o-sahr-ko´mah) a malignant primary neoplasm of bone composed of a malignant connective tissue stroma with evidence of malignant osteoid, bone, or cartilage formation; it is subclassified as  - bone cancer. Tickets are still available for tournament play and the banquet. Golfing spots cost $350, including dinner for two, while the banquet costs $50 per person.

Tournament play begins at 9:45 a.m. Monday and is scheduled to end by 4 p.m., to be followed immediately by a cocktail reception, silent auction and dinner. The event will also feature a video acceptance from golf champion Arnold Palmer, this year's recipient of the second annual Orthopaedic Hospital Paul Runyan Recognition Award.
