BRIEFLY FINAL SECESSION PLAN GOES TO L.A.


The public agency overseeing a study of San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 cityhood Wednesday submitted to Los Angeles officials a final secession blueprint drafted by Valley secession leaders.

The city now has until July 2 to issue an official response to the secession plan, said Larry Calemine, executive director of the Local Agency Formation Commission.

A citywide vote on Valley secession is tentatively slated for the ballot in November 2002.

Adult trials set for 2 teen-agers

A Los Angeles judge ruled Wednesday that two teen-agers accused in last year's killing of Hoover High School Hoover High School may refer to any of the following:
  • Hoover High School (Alabama), Hoover, Alabama, made famous by the MTV show Two-A-Days
  • Hoover High School, North Canton, Ohio
  • Hoover High School, Glendale, CA
 student Raul Aguirre will be tried as adults, officials said.

Rafael Gevorgyan, 16, and Anait Msryan, 15, have been facing murder charges in adult court in the death of Aguirre, who was fatally stabbed while breaking up a fight last May between the defendants and a member of a Latino street gang.

Darrell Mavis with the District Attorney's Office said the judge made the ruling because of the gravity of the offense.

NORTHRIDGE - Free-lance writer Marilyn Grunwald campaigned for election to the Los Angeles Community College District The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the community college district serving Los Angeles, California and some of its neighboring cities. In addition to typical college aged students, the LACCD also serves adults of all ages.  twice and lost. CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  names new dean for college

NORTHRIDGE - California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , has named composer and Woodland Hills resident William Toutant as dean of the campus' College of Arts, Media and Communication.

Toutant has worked at CSUN since 1975, most of that time as a music professor. During the last two years, he has served as interim dean for the college.

Smash-up sends five to hospitals

LAKE VIEW TERRACE - At least five people were taken to local hospitals Wednesday morning after a collision between two vehicles on Foothill Boulevard near Conover Street, officials said.
