Three gunmen net little cash in heist

TOLUCA LAKE - Three armed men robbed a California National Bank early Wednesday, getting away with less than $1,000 in cash, police said.

Gasoline station employee stabbed

NEWBURY PARK - An 18-year-old gas station attendant, who had held the job for just two weeks, was recovering Wednesday after being stabbed twice during a robbery attempt that was captured on the store's security camera.

Studt is interim school chancellor

Bill Studt, a well-known figure in Ventura County's education circles, was named interim chancellor of the Ventura County Community College District on Tuesday by a unanimous vote of the board of trustees.

He will take over for interim chancellor Bill Walker while the board launches a national search for a permanent replacement.

Since last May, Studt has been vice chancellor for human resources at the three-college district, which governs Moorpark, Ventura and Oxnard colleges. Previously, he had been superintendent of the Oxnard Union High School District Oxnard Union High School District is a high school district for public schools in Oxnard, California that also serves the surrounding unincorporated areas of El Rio, Channel Islands and Somis as well as the cities of Port Hueneme and Camarillo .

Moorpark driver dies in auto crash

A 27-year-old Moorpark man died from injuries in a car crash Wednesday morning in Thousand Oaks after he crossed into oncoming traffic, authorities said.

Peter Cline, who was driving a 1995 Honda Civic, tried to pass two other vehicles while going south on Moorpark Road and lost control of his car, said Sgt. Patti Salas of the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau.

The Honda crossed over the center median and hit a 2002 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 40-year-old Thousand Oaks woman who suffered minor injuries, officials said.

The crash is being investigated.
