BRIEFLY FESTIVAL SALUTES LATINO HERITAGE.


SUN VALLEY - More than 2,000 people gathered at a Latino heritage festival at the Sun Valley Recreation Center on Sunday sponsored by city officials and a new youth services group.

The special event included Aztec dancing, mariachi bands, children's folkloric dancing, computer workshops, food, crafts, face painting and health screenings.

``It was wonderful to see so many people in Sun Valley turn out for this event,'' said Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter Ruth Galanter was a city councilwoman from Los Angeles. Man struck, killed on 101 Freeway

VENTURA - A man died after he was hit by a pair of vehicles as he stood by his car on the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. It is the principal east-west route through Ventura County and in the southern San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.  on Sunday, officials said.

 said the man died after he was hit on the southbound 101 Freeway at Johnson Drive around 10:05 a.m.

Authorities identified the victim as 51-year-old Paul Fitzmorris of Ventura. He parked his Jeep Cherokee Jeep Cherokee can refer to five different SUV models produced by Jeep from 1974 to the present:
  • Jeep Cherokee (SJ), a full-size SUV produced 1974–1983
  • Jeep Cherokee (XJ), a compact SUV produced 1984–2001
 on the right shoulder and stepped into oncoming traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.
