The dead men were identified as Eugene Wittenberg, 76, the driver, and Robert Wittenberg, 42.

The Wittenbergs died about 3:30 p.m. Sunday on Avenue E east of 30th Street East. Their 1991 Chevrolet was heading west at an unknown speed when it drifted off the pavement and hit a utility pole, sheering the pole off at the ground, CHP CHP Chapter

Teenagers sought in arson blaze

PALMDALE - Arson investigators asked for the public's help in identifying a half-dozen youths seen around a partially constructed house destroyed by a fire.

The fire, reported about 5:20 p.m. Saturday in the 40600 block of Champion Way near the Rancho Vista Golf Course, did $100,000 damage.

Man with gun taken off bus

PALMDALE - Sheriff's deputies pulled over an Antelope Valley Transit Authority Antelope Valley Transit Authority is the transit agency serving the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster and their suburbs. Antelope Valley Transit Authority is operated under contract by Veolia Transport, and is affiliated and offers connecting services with Metro and Metrolink.  bus Monday morning to take into custody a man they had been told was carrying a gun.

Deputies said they had been told a man standing on Palmdale Boulevard and Ninth Street East had a gun in his pocket. Before deputies got there, the man got onto a bus. Deputies pulled over the bus and took the man into custody.
