PALMDALE - Waste Management customers can have up to two bulky, oversize items picked up for free from Aug. 6 to 10.

Furniture, water heaters and large appliances will be taken during regular trash pickup. Items should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m.

Senior citizens and disabled residents who need help getting the bulky items to the curb can call the city's maintenance department, at (661) 267-5338, at least 48 hours before their regular pickup day.

Luncheon to open golf fund-raiser

The Antelope Valley
 will host a luncheon for Golf Committee members of the Assistance League of Antelope Valley at noon Thursday to kick off plans for their 13th annual Benefit Golf Tournament.

Proceeds will benefit Kiwanis' charities, as well as the Assistance League's day-care center day-care center: see day nursery.  and kindergarten.

The tournament will be held Sept. 10 at Rancho Vista Golf Course.
