BRIEFLY EX-CON ARRESTED IN STORE VANDALISM.

PALMDALE - An ex-convict apparently high on drugs was arrested after entering a Palmdale Boulevard furniture store and smashing several thousand dollars worth of merchandise and windows.

Edward Lee Gage, 24, of Palmdale threatened the first deputy who arrived at Sperling's Furniture in the 200 block of East Palmdale Boulevard but surrendered when other deputies arrived and pointed a Taser stun gun at him.

``He was smashing furniture and breaking windows and yelling about being a Jamaican warlock,'' said Sgt. John Hargraves. ``Turns out he was high on methamphetamine - real high.''

Gage was booked on suspicion of felony vandalism after Saturday's 1 p.m. incident. He was being held without bail at the Lancaster sheriff's station on a parole hold.

Palmdale man ID'd as shooting victim

PALMDALE - A man shot twice during a family dispute was identified as Robert Castaneda, 25, of Palmdale, deputies said Sunday.

Castaneda was reported hospitalized in stable condition after the shooting early Saturday in front of a house on Lilac View Avenue.

Arrested were Christina Trujillo, 42, of Palmdale, the mother of Castaneda's girlfriend; David Trujillo, 43, of Palmdale, Christina Trujillo's ex-husband; and Pablo Monteon, Christina Trujillo's boyfriend, deputies said. The Trujillos were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and Monteon on a weapons charge.

Deputies said Castaneda was shot in front of Christina Trujillo's home after he had gone there and got in an argument. Deputies said Castaneda had broken up with Christina Trujillo's daughter, but was getting back together with her, and her family didn't like that.
