BRIEFLY DRIVER DEAD AFTER CAR-TO-CAR CONFLICT.


OXNARD - A 22-year-old Oxnard woman died early Monday from stab wounds she suffered during a traffic confrontation in the 100 block of South Rose Avenue, police reported.

 after several hours of emergency surgery, officials said.

Police said Jefferson was driving her vehicle around 10:25 p.m., Sunday when she became involved in a verbal dispute with two female occupants of another car.

At a traffic light Jefferson exited her car and was stabbed several times. She managed to get back in her car and drive to the hospital.

Police are asking the public for help in identifying the assailants.

 Monday afternoon in a shooting at a Glendale apartment complex, authorities said. Police said one of the men dialed 911 and said that he and two other people had been shot at the apartment in the 500 block of West Lexington Drive.

The woman was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where she later died, police said. Both of the men remained in critical condition Monday night at Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County/USC Medical Center.

Two houses burn in Monday fires

LANCASTER - One house was damaged and another burned to the ground in separate fires Monday, authorities said.

The first house fire was reported at 2:15 p.m in the 4100 block of West L-6, officials said. It took 25 firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish Extinguish
