Bomb hoax leads to station search

LOS ANGELES - A bomb threat at Union Station from an anonymous caller early Sunday turned out to be a hoax, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A man called about 1:20 a.m. saying there was a bomb in a restroom at the North Alameda Street train station, said LAPD Lt. Andy Heredero.

About five officers and Union Station security personnel searched the restrooms but found nothing that resembled an explosive, Lt. Heredero said.

5 people hurt in traffic incidents

Several people were injured, three seriously, in traffic incidents late Sunday, authorities said.

At 7:22 p.m., a 4-year-old child was hit by a car in the 11600 block of Lucinda Street in Pacoima, said Los Angeles City Fire spokesman Brian Humphrey. The child was airlifted to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

About an hour later two cars collided in Porter Ranch, causing serious injuries to a man and a woman, Humphrey said. The victims, who were injured in the crash in the 19600 block of Pine Valley Ave., were airlifted to UCLA Medical Center UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. It is rated as one of the top three hospitals in the United States and is the top hospital on the West Coast according to US News & World Report. . Another man injured in the crash was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente Foundation Hospital in Panorama City.
