Simi seeks cash for soundwalls

Law would allow killing of rabbits

SANTA ANA - A proposed law would make it easier to kill rabbits that now feast fearlessly on lawns, shrubs and flower beds.

``They're causing significant damage to the landscaping,'' said Sen. Dick Ackerman, R-Irvine, sponsor of a bill that would allow the ``taking'' of rabbits that are eating nonagricultural greenery.

Ackerman's bill, SB 1434, passed the Senate Fish and Wildlife Committee for a second time Monday on a 6-2 vote.
