The Los Angeles City Council The Los Angeles City Council is the governing body of the City of Los Angeles, California, United States.  on Wednesday approved the final aspect of its efforts to reduce the number of billboards in the city.

Under the proposal approved on a 12-0 vote, each council district will be allowed to adopt separate policies to allow companies to erect new signs in return for removing other billboards in the area. The proposal, however, will not take effect until new City Council districts become official next year.

The action follows a vote by the council Tuesday that bans the construction of any new billboards in the city.
