It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley. this weekend will be detoured through a Park and Ride lot because of construction work, city officials said. The detour will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and possibly from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, city officials said. The detour will allow installation of a water line. The Park and Ride lot will remain open for parking cars while it is used for a detour, officials said. Westbound traffic will be routed into the lot at its traffic signal, then out on Calle Grillo, which runs beside the Antelope Valley Freeway. Eastbound traffic will be routed onto Calle Grillo, then through the Park and Ride lot. Motorists may prefer to find alternate routes if possible, city officials said. Frank Churchill, 38, of the Mojave area entered his plea Wednesday in Superior Court to the charge of murder, with the special circumstance of lying in wait, in the killing of 39-year-old Robin Hamilton. Detectives said they videotaped Churchill on Jan. 31 driving to a remote area in the desert north of Los Angeles, digging up a body and decapitating it with a shovel to remove dental evidence. He was arrested that day after deputies found a head wrapped in cloth inside his vehicle.
