BRIEFLY DESIGN WINS TEENS HONORS IN CAPITOL.


GLENDALE - Assembly Speaker Herb Wesson Herb J. Wesson, Jr. is a California politician. He currently serves as a Los Angeles City Councilman. He represents the 10th district. He served in the State Assembly representing the 47th district from 1998 until 2004.  Jr. will honor two Southland teen-agers, one from Glendale, on Monday in Sacramento for their winning new California memorial license plate design.

Wesson, D-Los Angeles, will present Dashielle Samoy and David Amond, both 17, an Assembly resolution and a reproduction of the finished license plate, which features Samoy's American flag design and Amond's slogan, ``We Will Never Forget.''

2 killed when car overturns, burns

NORTH HILLS- Two 20-year-old men were killed and another man was critically injured when the car they were in flipped over and crashed in front of a house late Saturday night, authorities said.

Police officers were called to the 10900 block of Bartee Avenue, where a late model Nissan was reported to be upside down and on fire in the front yard, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Ed Wheelis

The two men were dead at the scene, and a third man in the car was transported in critical condition to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Panorama City, police said.

Apparently, the car ran off the road, the driver overcorrected and the the car crashed into a nearby parked car, flipped and ignited, police said.

Books to be given to kids in program

THOUSAND OAKS - More than 250 children's books will be donated on Monday for children who participated in Many Mansions' Homework/Literacy Program.

Verizon employees collected the books for the children. Many Mansions is a non-profit agency that provides housing to low-income residents, including 350 children.
