BRIEFLY DESERT DUMPING LEADS TO DRUG BUST.


LITTLEROCK - A pile of trash illegally dumped in the desert led to the arrest of two men on drug and weapons charges, sheriff's deputies said Tuesday.

Driving near 125th Street East and Avenue R-12, Deputy Lauren Brown spotted a pile of trash and in it found a bill with an address in the 10500 block of East Avenue S-2, deputies said.

Democratic clubs list election picks

PALMDALE - The Democratic Club of the High Desert and the Antelope Valley Democratic Club have announced their endorsements for the Nov. 7 elections.

The organizations endorsed Sandy Corrales and Alan Lee for Palmdale City Council and recommended ``no'' votes on Palmdale Measure T and state Proposition 38.

The organizations also endorsed Desmond Kester for Los Angeles County Assessor Los Angeles County Assessor is the office which deals with the tax-side to property in the county. The current assessor is Rick Auerbach. Prior to Auerbach taking office in 2000, Kenneth P. Hahn was assessor.

PALMDALE - The Old Town Homeowners Group will host a candidates forum for Palmdale City Council candidates at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1600 E. Ave. R-4.
