TARZANA - A burglary suspect who was killed when he attempted to flee from police by running onto the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. It is the principal east-west route through Ventura County and in the southern San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.  was identified Thursday.

 of the Coroner's Office said. It was unknown where he lived, Campbell said.

Woman hit Dec. 2 dies of injuries

BURBANK - An 85-year-old woman, who was struck by a slow-moving vehicle while walking to a parking structure in the Burbank Town Center earlier this month, has died of her injuries, police said Thursday.

Maria Farina fell and struck her head on the pavement on Dec. 2, said Sgt. Jay Jette of the Burbank Police Department The Burbank Police Department is the police department serving Burbank, California.

Tim Stehr became the Police Chief of the department on August 1, 2007. The previous chiefs were Thomas Hoefel, David Newsham and Glen Bell.

Farina slipped into a coma and never regained consciousness. She died at a hospital on Monday, Jette said. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, he said.

4 hikers rescued from mountains

WOODLAND HILLS - Three Woodland Hills residents and a Calabasas man were safely rescued from the mountains of Ventura County on Thursday after they did not return as scheduled from a camping trip, officials said.

Woodland Hills residents Matt Yondt, 18, William Spendlove, 20, and Kevin Riley, 53, along with Kenny Swegles, 19, of Calabasas were hiking from the Johnson Ridge trail to Sespe Hot Springs and Lions Campground at Rose Valley and were scheduled to return Wednesday, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department The Ventura County Sheriff's Department (VCSD) provides law enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, USA, as well as several cities within the county. The cities that VCSD serves are Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, and Thousand Oaks.  reported.

After Swegles' mother reported them missing Thursday morning, a sheriff's helicopter crew was dispatched, located the four and took them back to their vehicles, officials said.

CAMARILLO - The Ventura County grand jury indicted two Oxnard men in connection with three slayings in Ventura County last April, officials said Thursday.

Rodolfo ``Rudy'' Negrete, 22, was indicted on three counts of murder in connection with the April 16, 2004, slaying of Daniel Campos near Oxnard and the April 17 slayings of Alex and Cynthia Jordan on an isolated road near the campus of California State University, Channel Islands California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI) is a university located in Camarillo, California, in California's Ventura County. CSUCI opened in 2002 as the twenty-third campus in the California State University system, succeeding the Ventura County branch campus of , District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced.

Jose Manuel Ramirez, 21, was indicted on two counts of murder in the slayings of the Jordans, who were visiting the area from their home in Taft, Calif. He was also charged with being an accessory after the fact in the slaying of Campos, officials said.

Ramirez is in custody, and an arrest warrant has been issued for Negrete who is still at large, authorities said.
