Junior middleweight champion Oscar De La Hoya said the ``door isn't closed'' on a Sept. 13 rematch against Shane Mosley.

Bob Arum, De La Hoya's promoter, said Monday the tentative fight was off after Mosley rejected a guarantee of $4.25 million. However, De La Hoya, eager for a chance to avenge defeat, and Arum said Wednesday that negotiations continue.

The De La Hoya camp won't raise the guarantee but might be willing to give Mosley a higher percentage of the profits.

--WBA super flyweight belt holder Alexander Munoz was shot in the knee while jogging after he tried to fight off three assailants in Caracas, Venezuela.

The unbeaten Venezuelan had surgery on his left knee and is expected to make a full recovery within weeks, his doctor said.

YACHTING: Race 4 of the America's Cup was postponed because of light, shifting winds in Auckland, New Zealand.

The race now is scheduled for Saturday.

FOOTBALL: The Buffalo Bills all but assured themselves of retaining their rights to wide receiver Peerless Price by making him their franchise player.

Price, eligible to become an unrestricted free agent Feb. 28, is now guaranteed a one-year deal worth $5.01 million.

--Four years after leaving Oregon State for the NFL, Mike Riley has rejoined the Beavers as head coach, a university spokesman said.

Riley, who spent last year as an assistant with the New Orleans Saints, will be introduced at a press conference today, said Steve Fenk, an assistant sports information director.
